Hamilton-Wolff relationship wasn't always this strong

Lewis Hamilton has had it all his own way in the past two years, dominating both title races and his relationship with Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is stronger than ever.

However, this was not always the case. If we look back just over two years, there was a titanic title battle between Hamilton and his then team mate Nico Rosberg that went down to the final race of the season.

Childhood friends Hamilton and Rosberg found that their relationship was strained by the battle, as was Hamilton’s and Wolff’s.

Wolff told Autosport: "With Lewis, we needed our time and in hindsight, how it was with how the 2016 season ended, it gave us the best roots to grow our relationship stronger.
