It was one of the most talked about Formula 1 news in recent decades: Hamilton will drive for Ferrari from 2025 onwards. The Briton from Stevenage has already become world champion seven times, but is still on the hunt for his eighth title. Should he fail at Mercedes this year, he could try at Ferrari next year. Former driver Anthony Davidson reacts to the transfer.
"I can't wait to see what it does to the [Ferrari] team," the Briton analyst told Sky Sports. "I think he'll still put in some incredible performances, particularly in the race. Like we've seen with Fernando Alonso. They've got that calibre, they've got that experience," continued the former driver, who drove 20 races in Formula 1.

'Hamilton keeps Ferrari calm'

"Lewis will be there to feel the car during the race, to know how to manage the tyres, bring his own ideas, his own expertise to the team. Keep them calm when they need to. I think he'll be a voice of authority," added Davidson. "When you get to that kind of level, has a heavy influence on the team's motivation and ability to react under pressure. Just that they're trusting you. I think that's what he'll bring to Ferrari."
Hamilton will join the Italians driving alongside Charles Leclerc. Both contracts have now been signed, so next season Carlos Sainz will have to make way for the seven-time world champion. Where Spaniard Sainz will go is not yet known, but Audi seems to be a big contender.
