Hamilton: 'Red Bull still has the upper hand in Hungary'

After all the drama surrounding the race at Silverstone, it's time to focus on the Hungary GP. Lewis Hamilton thinks Red Bull Racing are still slightly ahead of Mercedes in terms of pace.

Just two weeks ago, Hamilton took victory at Silverstone after a crash by Max Verstappen. The upgrade Mercedes brought to Silverston seemed to give them better pace. Yet Mercedes could not beat Verstappen in the sprint race on Saturday.

"I still think they're slightly ahead", Hamilton said ahead of this weekend on Motorsport.com. “We definitely didn't bring the upgrade [to close the] gap that you've seen in some of the other races before that."

The tight track and many corners make the Hungaroring ideal for Red Bull's car, which has plenty of downforce. Hamilton hopes the nature of the circuit will play to his advantage when braking.

“The track, it's an old circuit and they don't make the tracks as they used to", he said. “It’s a track that kind of works for an aggressive driver in terms of driving style and in terms of how late and deep you brake into corners.”
