Lewis Hamilton ended the first practice session in fifth and the second in eighth place. While he fared better than teammate Charles Leclerc, he was still disappointed with his sessions, as he revealed to F1 TV.
Hamilton finished both of the sessions, unlike his teammate at the Scuderia, after Leclerc crashed in FP1 and was unable to compete in FP2, because he damaged his chassis.

However, the sessions were not in Hamilton’s favour. When answering how it went, he said, “Not great, not particularly great.”
“I love driving here and the crowd's been amazing today, but the car's a lot different to what I've experienced here in the past.“

He said, “FP1 was alright. And then we made some changes, and, honestly, I thought the car was quicker, but we just went slower. Or they went quicker, basically.”

Talking about the rear tyre lock-up issues he waa having, he said, “I think we'll definitely overcome it overnight.”
Looking ahead to Qualifying, the Briton did not sound positive about what's next this weekend. According to him, reaching the final stage on Saturday could already be tough.
“It would be a challenge to get into Q3 at this rate. But not impossible. And then trying to fight to get into the top five. It's going to be tough.”
