Today, the FIA have unveiled details about the 2026 car regulations. There will be changes to the power unit, aerodynamics, safety, and durability. Lewis Hamilton, however, was not completely satisfied with the details first published today after taking a look at it, he said in Montreal.

'Still overweight'

Hamilton criticised the details of the 2026 car ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. "I mean, it's only 30 kg, so it's moving, but it isn't going in the right direction, this is still heavy. I've only just seen what you've all seen this morning, so I don't really have huge thoughts on it just yet," the seven-time world champion voiced his concern about the weight of the car.
"I've spoken to some drivers who have driven it on the simulator. I haven't, but they said it's pretty slow, so we will see whether it's actually the right direction or not," he added another concern.

'Power unit changes are a good step'

However, the Briton also found some aspects to be worthy of praise. "But I think in terms of sustainability, particularly on the power unit side, I think that's a really bold step, and I think it's going in the right direction. We have just got to make sure the cars are efficient, fast and a natural step forward and actually racing is improved," Hamilton concluded.
