Hamilton after pole: "I needed that"

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton finally grabbed a pole position again, and the Brit admits that he really needed that for his confidence.

He took the first pole position of the season in Melbourne but saw his rival Sebastian Vettel take three in a row afterwards. It must've felt good for Hamilton to be the quickest again on a Saturday.

"I needed this pole," he admitted after the fact.

After this, he made a rather odd comparison when talking about the new asphalt layer on the track.

"The new asphalt is as smooth as a child's poop," he said.

Things are certainly looking up again for Hamilton, who sits in first again in the championship and will have a good chance to extend his lead at the top tomorrow during the Spanish Grand Prix, which he won last year too after starting from pole.
