Alfa Romeo Racing's Antonio Giovinazzi was left frustrating after qualifying, as the Italian will start from P11 after missing out on the final shoot-out of Q3 by a hundredth of a second.
The Italian has had some good qualifying performances of late, often beating teammate Kimi Raikkonen. However, at Hockenheim, it wasn't to be for the 25-year-old, who missed out on Q3 by the smallest of margins as he got 'mini-pole'.
“It was a bit frustrating to miss out on Q3 for just a hundredth of a second," the Italian said.
"We start from just outside the top ten, but tomorrow is the important day and I am confident we can get to the points. We wanted more but if we have a good start and a good strategy we can be in that fight. Nobody can predict what weather we’ll have tomorrow and if it starts to rain anything can happen. Having both cars in the top ten is the objective but the key is to continue moving forward.”
With Charles Leclerc's Ferrari right in front of him, Giovinazzi will probably not immediately gain places. Sebastian Vettel, who starts from P20, will also likely overtake the Alfa at some stage. Can Giovinazzi still drive his Alfa into the points?
