Gasly impressed: 'The guy’s a genius'

Pierre Gasly is in full preparation for the Miami Grand Prix that gets underway Friday. Meanwhile, however, he had time this week for an important dinner with six-time NBA Championship winner Michael Jordan. It provided him with an unforgettable evening.

Several Formula 1 drivers seize the race in Miami to meet with greats. For example, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton revealed earlier this week that he was playing golf with NFL legend Tom Brady. Gasly also had a special encounter, he says in an interview with The Race.

"Since a kid I’ve been inspired by this guy, his mentality and the success he has had in his career," he reveals about Jordan. "The guy’s a genius, he’s in another league. First thing is his mentality, the way he’s thinking intellectually. I was very, very impressed."

The Frenchman, after finishing eighth and ninth in Saudi Arabia and Australia respectively, did not manage to finish in the top ten at Imola. For Gasly, it is therefore important to do well again in the United States. For now, the driver is in thirteenth place in the world championship with six points gained.
