Full results | Stroll and Piastri faster than Verstappen in China

Lance Stroll finished the first and only free practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix as the fastest driver. The Canadian was over three-tenths faster than second-placed Oscar Piastri. For Max Verstappen, there was no more in it than a third time.

Stroll set his fastest time in the closing stages of free practice. The 1.36.302 was enough for the fastest time. With it, the Aston Martin driver was considerably faster than Piastri and Verstappen, who had also just set their laps. Sergio Perez followed in fourth place, closely behind Verstappen.

The Haas drivers also stood out positively. Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen were at the top of the timesheet throughout the session, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Fernando Alonso and the Mercedes drivers did not come out on the soft tyre. Lando Norris broke off his fast lap after two purple sectors.
