Friday afternoon in Barcelona will be dedicated to rain tyre testing

Pirelli announced on Tuesday which tyres will be available during the winter test in Barcelona. As every year, the drivers will have the chance to test out the rain tyres as well.

The test days in Barcelona will take place from February 23 to 25. It is the first time in 2022 that the ten teams will officially be in action to test out their new car. Each day is divided into two sessions with a morning and afternoon session. GPblog made an overview with which drivers will be in action and when.

The test days are more important than ever this year, because with the introduction of the new regulations a lot has changed to the cars. The teams are also making the transition from 13-inch to 18-inch tyres, which were already tried out during the test days in Abu Dhabi.

During the afternoon session on Friday, Pirelli's rain tyres can be tested at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The track will be sprayed wet with trucks for this purpose. However, should it already rain in the days before, the test on Friday afternoon will be cancelled. The teams will receive three sets each of the green intermediate tyres and the blue wets. Furthermore, all slick tyres will be available during the three test days, from C1 to C5.
