Valtteri Bottas topped a rain-affected FP3 in the South of France as there was limited running from every car. The session started dry but less than ten minutes in, heavy rain started to fall, with only six drivers risking the treacherous conditions.
Many drivers failed to get out at the start of the session, including the Ferrari pair and Lewis Hamilton, who could not set a fully dry lap and were therefore way off Bottas’ pace.
With rain set for qualifying, a few drivers decided to get some experience by doing a short run at the end of the session on the wet tyres.
Both Williams drivers and Charles Leclerc set times on the wet tyres, but they all struggled with the conditions, missing breaking points plenty of times.
Drivers seemed to be waiting for an end to the rain, which never arrived, leaving an empty track for much of the session as spectators used whatever they could to hide from the downpour.

It will be an interesting qualifying if the rain continues, with drivers not having any experience of Paul Ricard in full wet conditions.
