Just two hours before the lights were due to turn green for the Australian Grand Prix weekend and the event was cancelled. During the night, conversations went back and forward between all parties involved. This led to the frustration of many, including the fans who were waiting outside.

Money money money

Former F1 driver Christian Danner admits he is angry with the organisation for letting it rumble on for so long. He says the who situation was a mess.
"It was really a mess, everything was ruined. Nothing worked and eventually, the race was cancelled. All fans are disappointed, of course, and I'm angry with how Formula 1 has handled it, which was a cheap way," Danner said. He works for German RTL.
The man does not hide his frustration and lashes out completely at Speedweek.com. “Everyone thought of their own interests, everyone wanted to do what they wanted to do. The impression was created - just don't lose money, let's see how it goes and let's drive," Danner paints a picture of how those involved would have looked at it.

"I say, 'No, you cannot drive against the background of this coronavirus pandemic, any more than football can be played.' That's the way it is. Formula 1 has not shown its best side here. Cancelling Australia was the right thing to do, but it was much too late."
