Jim Farley is very pleased with the future collaboration with Red Bull Racing. According to the Ford CEO, the Austrian formation has proved how strong the team is in recent years and his company can therefore learn a lot from Red Bull.
"We don't want to make generic cars, faceless vehicles," Farley summed up Ford's ambitions on Friday during the presentation of the RB19. "We want to have vehicles with an attitude. This team represents that. We want to win in the marketplace."
Last calendar year, Red Bull spoke to several organisations about a possible partnership. These included Porsche. However, it did not yield an agreement. When Ford and Red Bull sat around the table, the green light finally came.
"We are excited to work with this team on the technology side. And learn from them. The best aerodynamisits in the world are in Formula 1 at Red Bull. The most important thing about making a small battery, because a battery is so expensive, is aerodynamics. We can learn a lot from F1 like in the 70s and 80s. But for a while, the tech didn't transfer. Now it can."

Future cooperation between the two parties

The cooperation between Red Bull and Ford will start in 2026. From that year, different engine regulations will apply in Formula 1, which was one of the factors for the US company to make the switch to Formula 1.
