Already in Q1, the red flag had to be waved in Monte-Carlo. It was young Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes that ended up in the wall.
Entering the final moments, Antonelli had to improve on his lap time to qualify for Q2 in Monaco.
However, the Italian made a mistake, and hit the wall on the inside Turn 10 in the Nouvelle Chicane.
The Mercedes' front left tyre was damaged, and the Italian's session ended in the wall.
Antonelli finished in P15 as a result in Q1, eliminating the two Alpine drivers, Gabriel Bortoleto, Oliver Bearman and Lance Stroll.
