The Canadian Grand Prix will have a third DRS zone available this year with a new zone added between turns 7 and 8. The aims of course are to boost overtaking and aid drivers in on-track battles between one another.
The sport has been criticised for its lack of on-track action, the Monaco Grand Prix a catalyst for widespread outcries that overtaking needs to be made easier with the newer, wider cars.
FIA race director Charlie Whiting said back in Australia that the addition of a DRS zone could occur again later in the season if the FIA deemed it a viable option to aid overtaking.
"It was just to offer something else. We will try and do something more effective at other tracks where there's more opportunity to do that."
The pre-existing DRS zones will remain untouched, with the back straight and start/finish straight both still DRS zones.
