Ferrari shows great confidence in Leclerc: 'He can win titles with us'

At Ferrari, after three Grand Prix in 2022, everything seemed to indicate that it was going to be a special year for the Tifosi. The lead in both championships over Red Bull Racing was huge and Charles Leclerc's form was in great shape. Four races later, however, the Italians are already in pursuit of Red Bull Racing.

At Ferrari, they have one of the strongest duos behind the wheel. Carlos Sainz, meanwhile, has seven seasons of Formula 1 experience, while Charles Leclerc has already proven himself as a multiple race winner. Mattia Binotto is also very enthusiastic about his driver duo, especially the Monegasque.

"We knew Charles had very high potential. When we put him in our car in 2019, he proved in the first season to be very strong and talented," explained the Ferrari team boss at the BBC. According to Binotto, it was immediately apparent from his driving style and his way of attacking and defending that he has a lot going for him.

Still, the Italians were cautious about Leclerc at the time, as it was, after all, only his second season in Formula One at the time. "I think, as the seasons passed, it gave us the confidence he could do that and would become a fantastic driver. We are confident he could be a driver who can win world championships and become a very strong leader for the team."
