Max Verstappen could claim an important podium finish at the US Grand Prix, even as he crossed the finish line in P4. The Dutchman was overtaken by Lando Norris on track, however, the Briton did so as he left the track, earning a five-second penalty.

Verstappen on McLaren's complaints

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella was not satisfied with the stewards' decision of giving his driver a five-second penalty. He called the penalty "inappropriate" to Sky Sports.
"No, I don't," Verstappen answered. "I mean, they complain about a lot lately, anyway. But it's very clear in the rules. Outside the white line, you cannot pass. I have been done for it as well in the past," said the three-time world champion about the incident.
Over the Sprint event and the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen could extend the lead over Lando Norris in the drivers' championship, as he finished ahead of the Briton on both occasions. As a result, the gap between the two now stands at 57 points with five weekends to go this season.
