As is usually the case with the final practice session of the weekend, teams and drivers were in no rush to come out of the pit lane.

The qualifying simulations were then done fairly late on into the session, but once they took place, it was Norris who showed the rest of the grid what he and McLaren have to offer.

Behind the 25-year-old, Hamilton also put in a fine lap to highlight the pace Ferrari has brought to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, finishing ahead of former teammate Russell, who rounded out the top three.

Oscar Piastri was only able to finish P4, six-tenths off the pace of teammate Norris as his struggles continued.

The charging Max Verstappen could only set the fifth fastest time of the session, struggling to contend with a lack of grip as the session came to an end, while Kimi Antonelli finished in P6.

Charles Leclerc, Isack Hadjar, Yuki Tsunoda and Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top ten.
