After a chaotic rainy race with several safety cars, it is Max Verstappen who has clinched victory, putting the competition even further behind. With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz dropping out, both McLaren drivers strike a good blow in the championship. Lando Norris and George Russell do good business with their second and third places.
The Canadian Grand Prix was a race full of changing weather conditions. It was alternately dry and wet. As a result, several drivers shot off the track and a lot of collisions and crashes ensued. In the end, the race had two safety cars.
Max Verstappen retains the lead in the drivers' championship. Due to Charles Leclerc' s dramatic race, the Monegasque goes home without points and drops considerably in the drivers' standings. Sergio Perez also fails to score any points in the Canadian Grand Prix due to a dramatic qualifying session. His second place puts Lando Norris very close to Charles Leclerc.
A number of drivers with few points left in the drivers' standings have scored points in Canada. For example, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Lance Stroll and Esteban Ocon all picked up much-needed points.
