Sky Sports F1 analyst Anthony Davidson commented on Lewis Hamilton’s shock SQ1 elimination, which came after an unusual rear lock-up at the Bus Stop chicane on his final flying lap.
Lewis Hamilton’s season has already been a turbulent one, but when bad luck gets thrown into the mix as well, it just adds insult to injury.
The seven-time world champion, already struggling to extract the full potential from the SF-25, had a costly mishap at the Bus Stop chicane on his final SQ1 attempt due to an unusual rear lock-up, forcing him to abandon the session.
Hamilton will therefore start from 18th on the grid, just ahead of Franco Colapinto and Kimi Antonelli — another major disappointment on the opening day of action at Spa.

Davidson surprised by Hamilton's reaction

Analyzing the Briton’s qualifying performance on Sky Sports, Anthony Davidson commented: "It’s surprising that he’s taken the blame for that.''
''Maybe if he listens back to it again, and by the time he gets back to the data and works it through with the engineers, he might think differently.''
"But at the moment, he’s a bit downtrodden and beating himself up for it. They will clearly see that there was rear locking, and it’s quite hard for a driver to cause that, unless you’ve been a bit careless and thrown your brake bias too far to the rear.''
Davidson also added: ''There’s very little a driver can do in these digital cars that they drive. They’re not very analogue these days. There’s only so much you can do on a flappy paddle gearbox to make the thing try to lock up. No matter what he says, the car spun him round to a certain degree."

After qualifying, Hamilton admitted he felt “massively frustrated” by what had happened, saying he had never experienced anything like it in his entire career.
