'Every position gained I owe to hard fighting, there is no gift from anyone'

After the first half of the season, Fernando Alonso is in eleventh place in the drivers' championship with 38 points. According to the Alpine driver, he has had to work hard to score every point.

The Spanish driver has returned to motorsport's highest class in top form, as he currently has the best run of consecutive points - six Grands Prix. Alonso stresses the hard work and feels that no points have been given away.

"We haven't had any luck this year. Every position I have gained I owe to hard fighting, there is no gift from anyone. I had to fight hard to get every point, so I'm proud of that", Alonso is quoted on Soymotor.com.

"If luck is on my side for once, I'm sure the result will be good, but I'm not too worried about that; I'm more proud and satisfied that I've always worked hard, because every point we got was deserved", he added.

The two-time world champion hopes to continue his learning process looking ahead to 2022, the year when the new regulations are implemented. "We are improving, but hopefully in the second part of the year we will learn more things to better prepare for 2022, which is the main goal," said Alonso.
