Ex-Red Bull driver rules out this option while discussing Horner's potential F1 return

Robert Doornbos, who raced for Red Bull Racing during his F1 career, is well acquainted with Christian Horner’s leadership style.

In conversation with motorsport.com he expressed his views on Horner's future in F1: "Knowing Christian, yes. Let's not forget: he is still very young. He already has twenty years of experience, but he is still only 51 years old.''

Even though Doornbos expects Horner to return to Formula 1, he thinks that Horner will do that as a team boss and not in a role at the FIA: "I don't see him returning in a role at the FIA. I do see him as a team boss making another attempt.”

What team would be suitable for Horner? Doornbos thinks Alpine: “That would be a team that at a certain point gets into such trouble and says 'we don't know anymore.'”

Rumors about the future of Horner had emerged earlier. GPblog had already reported that Horner will be closely monitoring the situation at Alpine in order to potentially step in as a shareholder. This site knows that Alpine does not intend to sell the team.
