Albon's criticism is unjustified? "Never the perfect scenario"

Alexander Albon has fallen quite a bit behind Max Verstappen in recent races, which reminded people of Pierre Gasly's disadvantage last year. According to Rudy van Buren, McLaren's sim driver and Porsche Supercup driver, it's unfair that people now judge him so harshly.

"In spite of the circumstances, if that crash [with Hamilton] hadn't happened there, he would have won that first race. I dare say that, it was a very good chance. In the second race he slept at the start, but in the second half he drove good laptimes when asked and in the third race he comes from P13 to P5", Van Buren considers Albon's season start at Formula 1 Cafe on Ziggo Sport.

"It's not easy for that guy. He is new there and the car changes extremely per session, they are really searching", this last remark can count on a lot of criticism at the table in the Formula 1 Cafe. Reporter Jack Plooij states that Albon is not new to the team at all and former F1-driver Robert Doornbos mentions a gap of one second per lap on Max Verstappen as too big.

The fact remains that Albon hasn't been on the podium yet, but he was very close several times and due to Hamilton in particular he didn't make it. Pierre Gasly has never been close to the podium in his time at Red Bull Racing. According to Van Buren he simply hasn't been with Albon yet.
