A return to Formula 1 is not in the offing for Cosworth, which sees its former partner Ford making a comeback in 2026 in partnership with Red Bull Racing. However, the former engine supplier was regularly consulted when drafting the new engine regulations, according to CEO Hal Reisinger.
At the launch of Red Bull's RB19, Ford announced that it will partner with the Austrian racing stable to make a return to motorsport's premier class. Cosworth, which has frequently collaborated with the US car brand in the past to supply F1 teams with engines, has other ambitions.

Cosworth not considering F1 return

Cosworth said they are grateful for the period it has been active as an engine supplier in F1, but does not see a possible return. "That requires dedication of all your resources if you want to do it well, and I don’t believe in doing anything less than excellent," said Reisinger in conversation with Autosport.com.
Nevertheless, the British manufacturer is still regularly consulted when drafting future engine regulations, the CEO said. He adds, however, that it is difficult to provide proper input without being a participant himself.

The new engine regulations, to be introduced in 2026, are designed to attract new manufacturers to the sport. So far, six manufacturers have applied to the FIA with the intention of supplying engines from then on: Alpine, Audi, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes and Red Bull Ford.
