Complete results FP1 in Australia | Sainz the fastest, Verstappen P4

The Grand Prix weekend in Australia got underway with the first free practice session. The picture during the first session is exactly as we have come to expect this season, with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing calling the shots. Check out the complete results of the first session here.

For the European Formula 1 fan, it was an early start to watch the first session in Melbourne live. The first free practice session began at 4am, where we returned for the first time in three years for a race weekend. Carlos Sainz was the fastest at Albert Park, followed by Charles Leclerc.

As in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, it is Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen who come closest to the Italians. With a fifth place for Lando Norris, McLaren seems to be doing better. With a seventh place for Lewis Hamilton and a twelfth place for George Russell, we cannot say the same about Mercedes yet.
