Max Verstappen was busy during the Grand Prix weekend in Imola. In addition to his work in Formula 1, the Dutchman competed in the online 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner did not worry about this double shift.
Max Verstappen, with his own sim racing team, Team Redline, is often in action at virtual races. Usually, the Dutchman only takes part in these races when he is at home in Monaco, but in Imola he made an exception. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring was on the schedule this weekend

Horner was not worried about Verstappen

Verstappen drove his part of the virtual race on Saturday night and Sunday morning. In the end, Team Redline won the sim race, just before Verstappen won the Grand Prix at Imola. Christian Horner is just proud that the Dutchman has the capabilities to do both. "I think he's had a very busy weekend because he's also competed in the 24 hours of Nurburgring in between being in the car. So he's won two races today, one in a BMW M3 and one in a Formula 1 car. And I think that Max, this weekend, and you heard what it meant to him, the pole position yesterday, he really had to dig very deep. And the performance again today was a masterclass," Horner said after the Grand Prix.
The British team boss indicated that he was not worried about the triple world champion's double schedule this weekend. "He's basically a racing machine, so it's quite often he's testing different setups in the evening and this kind of thing. So it's not unusual for him to be doing that," Horner said.
