Horner shares positive update on Red Bull's 2026 engine

From 2026 onwards, Red Bull Racing embark on a new journey. The Austrians' partnership will end with Honda, and they are set to create the Red Bull Powertrains engines in collaboration with Ford. Team principal Christian Horner gave an update on the project in Bahrain.

With a new regulation change coming, Red Bull Powertrains together with Ford will be responsible for the power units of the Red Bull and Racing Bulls cars, while Honda will then supply engines for Aston Martin only. When asked by F1 TV, Horner explained where things stand with the project.

"They're doing well. And behind the scenes again, back in Milton Keynes, working long hours and long days at the moment. But, we're making good progress with the engine. And together we've forwarded it. This time in twelve months it will be powering two Grand Prix teams. So, it's difficult to almost comprehend the scale of the challenge," the Briton began.

Red Bull have never completed such project before, but Horner says there is a positive mood in general within the squad. "It was a brand new company only four years ago, and now we're fully up and running in a brand new factory [with] all the machinery, and fully staffed. So it's exciting. There's a great atmosphere in the team and a nervous anticipation as well," the team principal and CEO concluded.
