Sergio Perez and Franco Colapinto started from the pit lane in the sprint race. The Argentine overtook the Mexican immediately on exiting the pit lane as the Mexican didn't move forward when the green light turned on. Perez claimed after the race that he had done it on purpose, but team boss Christian Horner was clearly unaware.
It was a strange image: Perez, the driver already under so much pressure at Red Bull, simply giving a place to Colapinto. The Mexican did not drive forward when the green light came on. The 34-year-old explained after the race that he did it on purpose to give himself some free air and test some of the changes made to his RB20.

Horner: 'Looked like Perez was sleeping'

Horner was unaware of Perez's deliberate action. "I need to have a chat with him about it because I just felt like he was caught napping a little bit and obviously Colapinto got the jump on him. We managed to get some useful data from Checo in that race so we managed to change the nose [front wing] as well so we got some good feedback that hopefully we can use for this afternoon," Horner told F1TV.
He then explained more about the decision to change the front wing: "On a day that we weren't going to score points with him, it was better to get as much knowledge as we could. And so that's what we've done. We've got some data now to look at between now and the next session. So hopefully we can make good use of it".
