Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag says it is bad news for motorsport that Honda will pull the plug on the Formula 1 project after 2021. Honda returned to F1 as an engine supplier in 2015 and has been supplying Red Bull Racing with engines since 2019.

Bad news for all motorsport

"I see it as bad news for motorsport in general. I don’t see this as good news for Formula E and bad news for Formula 1," said Agag in conversation with Reuters news agency.
Agag continues that he does not see Formula 1 as a competition. "We see each other as on the same boat and competing against tennis, football and other sports," he explains.

"If one manufacturer leaves motorsport, it doesn’t mean it’s going to come through another door to us. It may stay out of motorsport altogether so that’s not good news," says the Spaniard.
