Sergio Perez is going through a difficult period in Formula 1. Although the Mexican recently extended his contract at Red Bull Racing, his sporting performance on track leaves much to be desired. Last weekend, the six-time race winner finished eighth in Barcelona, and he did not have a flawless start this weekend either. In the sprint shootout in Austria, he got no further than P7. Perez's current form worries Sky Sports' analyst Martin Brundle.
The former Formula One driver who now works for Sky Sports recognises that Max Verstappen is currently the only competitive factor at Red Bull, without him the team would be at an end, he argues. "If you had two Sergio Perez's on Sergio's current form...," the Briton criticised Perez.
The Mexican driver is struggling since the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in qualifying. Since the competition visited Imola, until the Spanish Grand Prix, Sergio Perez only made it through to Q3 once, where he finished in P8. Today, he also made it through to SQ3, but finished seventh this time, constantly trailing his teammate, Verstappen.

Brundle praises on Verstappen

Finally, Brundle complimented the three-time world champion. "Max was really having to stand up in the seat, use all of his talents in qualifying at the start with race craft and race pace time management. He had to bring every aspect of his skills and talents out to win that Grand Prix."
