Brundle: "F1 is in very good hands for the future"

Martin Brundle believes that Formula 1 is "in very good hands for future" after the young drivers dominated the Austrian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc stood on the top two steps on the podium to record the youngest 1-2 in Formula 1 history.

Verstappen and Leclerc have a combined age of just 42 years. Across 71 laps, they both demonstrated impressive and mature talent as they battled together to produce one of the best Grands Prix for some time.

"With Leclerc and Verstappen on the front row (who would also go on to deliver us the youngest top two in F1 history) we were having a glimpse of the future. I was wrong, it was a full 71-lap show," Brundle said in his column on Sky Sports.

But that wasn't all. Lando Norris, who finished as 'best of the rest' in his McLaren, also highlighted good skill and control. Norris, just 19, is working his way up the ranks and Brundle also noted his performance around the Red Bull Ring.

"Lando Norris was a star once again for McLaren, underlining that F1 is in very good hands for the future, and Carlos Sainz in the sister car drove brilliantly and with great pace to eighth from the back of the grid," Brundle added.

We could well see Leclerc, Verstappen and Norris all competing at the highest level in future years.
