Aston Martin release update on the work done to Stroll and Alonso's cars

Like their Williams colleagues, there is also hard work going on in the Aston Martin garages ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso crashed in the wet conditions of qualifying at the Interlagos circuit, resulting in heavy damage for both cars.

To GPblog when asked, Aston Martin revealed that the team is doing everything possible to get both cars to the start of the Grand Prix. Along with this, the intention is for Alonso and Stroll to actually be on the grid and, therefore, not start from the pit lane. If they make the repairs without having to change gearboxes due to damage, for example, then they will be able to start on the grid without any trouble.

Carlos Sainz also crashed in Sao Paulo and suffered damage that meant his Ferrari had to get a new engine and gearbox, and as a result, he will start from the pitlane. For Franco Colapinto and Alexander Albon, it is unclear whether they will be able to compete in the race at all. The Thai-British driver in particular had significant damage after his crash. Williams does not know if Albon's car can be repaired in time.

The start of the Brazilian Grand Prix is scheduled for 12:30pm local time, three hours behind the time in the UK.
