Aston Martin responds to extra points: 'Vamos!'

It was thanks to the Aston Martin F1 team that the stewards of the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday evening were not enjoying dinner in a fancy restaurant somewhere in Vienna. This was because the English team had found that not all track limit violations had been penalised by race control. The consequence? The stewards had to spend the evening analysing all possible violations, which resulted in penalties for no fewer than eight drivers. As a result, the Aston Martin men each moved up one place in the results.
On a day when Fernando Alonso was not competing for podiums, he still managed to return home with fifth place in the end. Indeed, the Spaniard benefited from a time penalty for his compatriot Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari driver still lost his fourth place (to Lando Norris) and had to settle for sixth behind Alonso.

Bull's eye

Not long after the FIA announced the official results of the Grand Prix, Alonso tweeted two pictures. In one, he was hugging a pile of tyres. The caption was: "P5 and ten points. Thanks, Austria. Next, Silverstone." Significant was also the icon of a bull's-eye.

His team Aston Martin subsequently reacted elatedly. The English wrote under their driver's post: "Vamos!
