The Aston Martin team didn't have a great start to the season, but they've clearly managed to recover. The analysts at Motorsport.com have been looking at the team's big update package that they brought to Austria.
The changed aerodynamic rules at the start of the season caused problems for a number of teams. So did Aston Martin, who had to recover. This has worked out quite well, with a sixth place in the Constructors' Championship just behind AlphaTauri.
In the first four races, Aston Martin only scored five World Championship points, in the following four races they scored no less than 39 points. Due to a faulty strategy last weekend the team was unable to score any more points. However, in Spielberg, they came up with the largest update package so far, the largest even of all the teams this season.
On the front wing of the car, you can see a small change that has big consequences. The tip of the upper section tapers more aggressively. This brings the airflow more under the car. Changes to the bargeboards will also affect this.

Vettel will have to wait a little longer for updates

Other updates include the addition of a boomerang-winglet, extra slits in the vertical section for a spring-like structure. The floor of the car has also been changed, by removing and modifying a number of parts that should all improve the performance of the car.
Not all updates were applied to both cars. Lance Stroll got the advantage in Austria and received all the modifications, Sebastian Vettel will have to wait a little longer. Earlier, the team indicated that the driver on top of the World Championship would receive the advantage, this appears not to be the case.
