Alonso makes remarkable move: 'I don't know why he is moving'

This week Aston Martin revealed the news that Fernando Alonso is the successor to Sebastian Vettel for next season. It caused quite a surprise in the Formula 1 world, including with Emerson Fittipaldi.

The former Formula 1 driver holds Alonso in high regard. The Spaniard won the world title no less than twice during his career and proved in the years that followed that he has many qualities. Fittipaldi is therefore happy that Alonso remains in Formula 1, but he finds the move to Aston Martin remarkable.

"He's running strong with Alpine," he begins on Vegainsider.com his analysis. "I don't know why he is moving. It's difficult to know. From the outside, you never know a driver's decision to change teams, to retire, because it is a very personal decision. Alpine is running stronger than Aston Martin now."

Fittipaldi, on the other hand, understands why Aston Martin chooses the driver. Despite his age, Alonso still has the willpower to get the most out of his machinery. Moreover, he can help the team in other ways. "He's very good at setting up the car," said the 75-year-old Brazilian.
