It was a disappointing season for Renault as they dropped down one place in the Constructors' Championship. Despite 2019's shortcoming's Cyril Abiteboul is adamant they have the most powerful engine.
It was an underwhelming season for Renault as they entered 2019 with high expectations. The arrival of Daniel Ricciardo was expected to take the French constructor to the next level and see them challenge the top three more.
However, they were overtaken by McLaren in the battle for midfield supremacy, their old driver, Carlos Sainz leading the way for the Woking-based team. Toro Rosso also pushed Renault all the way to the final race for fifth place.
Despite their mixed season, Cyril Abiteboul is adamant that Renault are leading the field along with Ferrari in terms of the strength of their engine.
"According to our measurements, we and Ferrari have the strongest engine in the race," Abiteboul told Auto Motor Und Sport.

Abiteboul also ranked the next two engine providers, putting Mercedes bottom of the pile.
"Then comes Honda and then Mercedes," he added.
