"This was the chance to catch up in the world championship"

Max Verstappen had a dramatic weekend in Italy. The Red Bull Racing RB16 didn't have enough speed in qualifying and Verstappen even had a technical problem in the race.

According to Allard Kalff, Verstappen is the big loser after the Italian Grand Prix. "With Hamilton scoring badly and Bottas scoring badly it was certainly for the Dutch fans, Verstappen himself and Red Bull Racing the chance to catch up in the World Championship", says Allard Kalff during the Slipstream podcast.

Kees van de Grint fully agrees with Kalff. "He had the chance to make the gap smaller. While he was already starting the race with no chance because normally the gap is much too big with the speed. But if even a Red Bull Technology car wins then you have to assume that Max could have done it for sure", added van de Grint.

Due to the poor performance of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, this was the chance to catch up says van de Grint. "If you go home with zero points, but your competitors also have a bad weekend and grab points, you can't help but say you're the big loser."
