"Incredibly boring" French GP sees increase in viewers!

Last month's French Grand Prix was one of the most boring in recent memory, but surprisingly Channel 4 saw an increase in views on its highlights show compared to last year.

The highlights package is the first of the 2019 F1 season to see an increase on views from the corresponding Grand Prix in 2018, which is a surprise considering how dull the race turned out to be.

The action in the race was fairly non-existent until the final few laps, when Daniel Ricciardo caused some scraps in the midfield.

According to the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board, more than 1.7 million watched the programme, nearly a 20% increase on last year.

To put that into more context, only the Monaco, Spanish and Azerbaijan Grands Prix received more viewers.

Figures for the Austrian Grand Prix have not been released yet.
