This is how many engine parts F1 drivers will be allowed to use from 2026 onwards

When the new engine regulations come into force in 2026, each driver will have access to four internal combustion engines, four turbochargers and four exhaust systems. In addition, three batteries and three MGU-Ks can be used without incurring grid penalties.

From 2027, however, this number will be reduced, in part to keep costs down for engine manufacturers. Only three internal combustion engines, three turbochargers and three exhaust systems will be allowed per season, with two batteries and two MGU-Ks.

A new feature is that one exhaust system will be allocated to each combustion engine. Currently, teams can still use eight exhaust systems per driver and swap them between each other, but from 2026 that will be a thing of the past. The engine manufacturers will therefore have some development work to do in the area of exhaust systems.
