On Friday Red Bull Racing announced that it would be talking to Porsche about supplying power units from 2022 onwards. However, according to information from Rick Winkelman, the German brand has no serious interest in entering Formula 1.
"They were a long way off, but it's not going to be," says Winkelman at Formule 1 café about a possible entry of Volkswagen/Porsche into Formula 1. Ziggo Sport's commentator suggests that Red Bull should choose between Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault by 2022.
As a result, a renewed collaboration with Renault is now much more likely. The French squad will only supply its own Alpine team in 2021 and therefore has room to add a customer team to its database.

Toyota awaits

Brands such as Audi and Lamborghini leave the pinnacle of motorsport behind for the time being. The same applies to the Japanese Toyota. "They are waiting for such a moment in 2026, because then the new engine regulations will come," according to Winkelman.
