Kevin Magnussen could not have started his new adventure in the IMSA championship on a better note. The Danish driver, who has left Formula 1 after a decade in the sport, took pole position with his BMW teammates for the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Belgian Dries Vanthoor secured pole position for the long-distance race in Florida with a time of 1:33.895. It is the first pole for the BMW M Hybrid V8 since the start of the LMDh programme in 2023. Along with former F1 Haas driver Magnussen, Philipp Eng and Raffaele Marciello, he has the best starting position for Sunday's race with the #24 BMW.
"I am very pleased to have secured the first pole position with the BMW M Hybrid V8," said an overjoyed Vanthoor. "It's a great result and a deserved reward for the hard work of everyone involved in this project. It's a good start to the season that we can be proud of. But for the race, pole position doesn't say much. We will continue to give our all to have a reason to celebrate on Sunday as well."
