Hulkenberg: 'Different preparation needed for Jeddah'

Ahead of the second race of the season, Nico Hulkenberg looks ahead to his second race at the Jeddah Cornice Circuit, last season he was still filling in for Aston Martin and now he competes for the Haas-F1 team

In 2022, Nico Hulkenberg filled in several times. Sebastian Vettel had COVID-19 and had to give up his Aston Martin to the 'super-sub', in his second race as a substitute Nico Hulkenberg drove to 12th place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The man from Emmerik finds the circuit special: “The track is unique and special. It’s unbelievably fast given it’s a street circuit and it definitely gives you a huge rush and kick."

'The Hulk' approaches the narrow track differently from other circuits: “It’s a street circuit so you always start off a little bit on the safer side and lap-by-lap, session-by-session move it up."

Whether the German will have a complete picture of the car and its characteristics after the race in Saudi Arabia, he does not yet know, he says in a press release from his team because each circuit after this will also be a bit different from the previous one. According to him, it will take longer than two races to find out how the car behaves.

The race weekend at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit will take place from 17 March to 19 March.
