Horner mocks Verstappen: 'A very fast kangaroo!'

After a hectic qualifying session in the Brazilian rain, Max Verstappen eventually finished in first position. Incredible rain meant drivers could only set one fast lap in Q3. Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Lance Stroll, among others, were up as they made up the top three in qualifying. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner summed up the session.

Horner said he and his team predicted the rain: "We knew it was coming, I didn't expect it to be quite this biblical. It was good to get that lap in. Very unlucky for Checo to get a yellow flag with Piastri, but one of those things [that can happen in qualifying]."

"It was a very fast kangaroo," Horner joked about Verstappen. The three-time and reigning world champion said during Q1 that his car [the fully-priced RB19] bounced like a kangaroo on the track at Interlagos.

Asked whether Verstappen will disappear on the horizon at the start of the race next Sunday, Horner also has an answer ready: "Well, I can only hope," Horner explained. "But it's always a competitive race here, so you can not take anything for granted," concluded the Austrian constructor's team principall.
