Helmut Marko indicated at the start of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend that they believe the technical directive issued on porpoising is"total nonsense". Whereas the Red Bull Racing advisor was mainly targeting the FIA, Christian Horner now has no good word to say about Toto Wolff.

New riot between Mercedes and Red Bull?

After the Azerbaijani Grand Prix, it was noticed that everyone at Mercedes was complaining about the severe bouncing of the W13. It would not be conducive to safety and therefore the international motorsport federation decided (after several drivers complained) to take measures. Unnecessary, according to Red Bull.
Horner points to Wolff: "He is campaigning to change the rules. That's somewhat ironic, because here [in Canada] Mercedes bounced much less and they were quite fast. I think their concept is the problem, not the regulations," says the team boss of the Milton Keynes-based outfit in conversation with De Telegraaf.
The addition to the regulations made by the FIA does not seem to play into Mercedes' hands, by the way. On the contrary. When a car bounces too hard and/or too often, the ride height will have to be adjusted. That often means a slower lap time and is therefore something you want to avoid as a team. Ted Kravitz therefore thinks that Red Bull will benefit the most from the measures taken by the FIA.

Wolff has an opinion too

Meanwhile, the Mercedes team boss has his own opinion ready. He accuses 'pathetic' rivals of 'insincerity and political games'.
