Formula 1 was fortunate enough to be able to run a full season in the second half of 2020. Formula E, which uses almost exclusively street circuits, was not able to do so last season. Next season is now in doubt after the start date was postponed.
Formula E was in the middle of the season when the coronavirus first broke out worldwide. More than half of the season was cancelled and in August six replacement races were held at the Tempelhof airport in Berlin. Not really a sparkling solution and with the new season, the racing class has immediate bad luck again.

The new wave of infections probable cause

The new season was due to start in mid-January in Santiago, the capital of Chile, but that event has now been postponed indefinitely. It is hoped that a new date will be set in the first quarter of 2021.
No official reason is given for the postponement, but according to RaceFans.net, it is likely to be due to the recent increase in the number of infections in several European countries. Indeed, the logistical operation to get all the equipment to South America was considerably delayed. According to the website, the next races in Saudi Arabia, among others, may also be endangered by this.
