OFFICIAL: Russell disqualified from Belgian GP and Hamilton takes win

George Russell has been disqualified from the Belgian Grand Prix. After the fuel sample was taken from the Mercedes car, it was found to be underweight. This means that Russell is taken out of the result and loses his victory at Spa-Francorchamps. This means that Lewis Hamilton wins the Belgian Grand Prix, with Oscar Piastri promoted to second. This gives Charles Leclerc a place on the podium.

Russell had to push very hard in the closing stages of the race. His teammate Lewis Hamilton was closing and trying to attack. The seven-time World Champion had a tyre advantage over Russell but brilliant defence from Russell kept him ahead.

It also means that Max Verstappen has now finished in P4, of the 2024 edition of the Belgian Grand Prix. Sergio Perez also moves up a place, he now finishes in seventh place. Since 2021, Hamilton did not win until the 2024 British Grand Prix, but now the seven-time world champion is the race winner again, just after a few weeks have passed. Moreover, Daniel Ricciardo will now claim the final point, as he also got promoted to P10.
