McLaren chief makes honest admission about Horner in recent interview

The 54-year-old, who made a recent appearance on talkSPORT, acknowledged that the sport is missing the former Red Bull Racing boss when asked about Horner.

Brown further highlighted the need for a mix of character in F1, something he believes makes the sport fascinating.

He said: “He was an unbelievable team boss. Obviously, things went sideways the last couple of years. I think he'll be back, but I think sport is filled with characters, good guys, bad guys, all different, and I think that's what makes the sport fascinating."

Horner witnessed his over two-decade stint at Red Bull Racing come to an unceremonious end days following the British Grand Prix. He was shown the door by the team’s hierarchy amid an underwhelming run of results and other challenges around the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

Horner’s time at Red Bull saw the team transform into one of the powerhouses of Formula 1, winning multiple Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

Earlier, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff took a swipe at Horner, highlighting his power-hungry nature as one of the factors behind his sudden dismissal.

The Austrian stressed that Horner’s sense of entitlement and quest for control ultimately proved counterproductive in the long run in his role as Red Bull team principal.
