Max Verstappen will start from P4 on the grid on Sunday in Spa-Francorchamps, partly due to a small mistake in qualifying. The Dutchman has to start behind the two McLarens and Charles Leclerc, but has hope for the race.
While pole sitter Lando Norris made a mistake on his final lap and could not improve, Verstappen's second run was also not perfect either.
The Red Bull driver had wheel spin exiting Turn 1, already putting him on the back foot. In the end, he was also overtaken by Charles Leclerc, leading to him starting from P4.
The driver does have an explanation for this: the Red Bull car changed significantly after some adjustments to it. "I had absolutely no grip. We could have been third, then it looks better, but it was not a nice qualifying," he told Viaplay after the session.
"I never had a top balance in the car. We made some adjustments, but generally, it became more difficult."

At the British Grand Prix, the team gambled on a setup with downforce, however, the rain arrived that weekend. As a result, Verstappen was asked whether they adjusted the setup to make it more for the rain this time.
"It is enough for the rain," the Dutchman revealed. "But in one way or another it did not bring us everything. We'll see it in the rain tomorrow."
And that's where the opportunities lie, says a smiling Verstappen: "Anything can happen in the rain..."
