Norris ready to party after title win: 'Hope they’ve ordered many drinks!'

The McLaren driver, who claimed a maiden Drivers’ crown following a podium finish, began by stating this could be his only chance of tasting title success.

“This might be my only time. I really hope it's not, and I'm confident it's not going to be my only time sitting here alone. It's quite lonely here,” he said during his post-race press conference.

Norris continued by detailing that he plans to relish the moment as much as he can before stating he plans to celebrate with his friends and his McLaren team.

“The effect, the feeling it's had on all the people, that makes me so happy. I'm going to celebrate with my friends. I really hope they've ordered many drinks already because I want to go and party with them,” he added.

“This is more about them than it is about me – my mechanics, my engineers. We’ve got a test on Tuesday morning,” Norris concluded.

Norris claimed the Drivers’ Championship after finishing the season on 423 points, two ahead of nearest challenger Max Verstappen. The victory for the 26-year-old was also the first for a McLaren driver since Lewis Hamilton during the 2008 season.

Norris earlier expressed his delight at winning the championship in his own manner. The British driver labelled it as winning “the Lando Way” and also lauded the efforts of the McLaren team after his title triumph.
